    Founded in 1992 by Mike Kropp and Bob Harris, PEER Group is an industry-leading developer of semiconductor equipment automation and factory connectivity software. What started as a two-person operation supplying custom manufacturing software solutions, has matured into a 250-person, product-focused software company with offices in Kitchener, Toronto, and Dresden, Germany. Today, PEER Group software is used to automate more than 130 semiconductor tool platforms, powering more than 90,000 pieces of equipment in virtually every chip factory in the world.

An electrical engineer by trade, Mike uses his dedication to technical proficiency to foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and high customer satisfaction. His strategic vision has guided PEER Group’s transformation from a successful custom manufacturing software solutions company to an award-winning, global market leader in factory automation software products and services.

In 2023, Mike was unanimously selected to join the SEMI North America Advisory Board, whose mission is to strengthen the financial, market, and technology performance of North American semiconductor companies. He is also an inductee of the University of Toronto Engineering Alumni Network’s Hall of Distinction and the Waterloo Region Entrepreneur Hall of Fame. Most recently, Mike was named the 2024 recipient of the Ontario Professional Engineers Awards Engineering Medal – Engineering Excellence in Industry.
